THE BOZmail – JANUARY JAMBOREE
NO BET DAY
FINAL JANUARY JAMBOREE SCORE after DAY EIGHTEEN: +0.3912 points
Shortlist Exotic Bet of The Day:
1-50 Magic of Light (1st)– Papagana (3rd)
2-25 Thomas Darby (1st)
3-35 Un De Sceaux (2nd)
2 x 0.025 WIN TREBLES (Total Spend = 0.05 points) – LOST
You couldn’t call a five winner day at Ascot a flop especially with a 20/1 (amazing price – 13/2 earlier in the morning) and an 8/1 nap(I got nines) and if you took the hint and hedged Un De Sceaux when the first two legs of the treble came good, you did ok. Can’t help feeling a bit like it was the one that got away however! Defi Du Seuil defies me again (third time now) and has become an excellent jumper and it was Geraghty’s attacking jump two out that sealed it. Townend too conservative I felt.
Jockeys do make a difference but at the end of the day, Defi has improved hand over fist every run and has not to be opposed any more. Gets on my to follow list for the Champion Chase I think after that. And I have to settle for a good day but a should have done better day. January curse again. I hedged Un De Sceaux but I didn’t back Townshend. I know some of you who relish longshots that I mention but don’t tip will have done better than me today!
It was the best Shortlist effort for a while and I did say it had that feel to it. We are being cautious with it going forward but have decided to relaunch this year on March 10th in time for the Cheltenham Festival. We are still learning about ground conditions and which tracks to avoid when there is doubt about them. Ascot not one of those. But ultimately it has been decided to publish only during the peak period which is March to August each year. When UK ground conditions are in general more conducive. Please let me know if you want to be in receipt of publications in the future(usual email address) and I’ll let you know terms and conditions in due course. And thanks to all those who have been part of this four month long trial. Always appreciated.
Meanwhile the January Jamboree and with it the 2019 BOZmail cycle comes finally to its end. Not quite the rollercoaster January I had envisaged but a solid profit return again (just under 10% return on advised 4 point bank) and in fact a much better LIM score than shown in any other previous January! Some sort of lesson been learned there. Mainly to stay out when the vibes are bad!
On that note I have designated the official final day of the Jamboree a no bet day purely and simply because I could not find a bet I fancied. Excepting Footpad at Thurles that is but he’s 8/15 and that looks a risk not worth taking in view of our position.
So I’ll bow out with that exciting day at Ascot as the curtain caller. Thanks to all those who have followed over the past thirteen and a half months but are not following on into 2020. Not too late to change your minds but whatever you decide I thank you unreservedly for your support and interest. It has meant a great deal and hope you’ve enjoyed and found it as educational as I have.
To those joining me for BOZmail 2020, I say bring it on! Shall spend the next 13 days recharging the batteries (watching a bit of women’s tennis through the nights on Euro Sport!) ready and fresh for resumption of duties and battle commenced on February 1st.
See you there!
