BOZmail JANUARY JAMBOREE day nine

THE BOZmail – JANUARY JAMBOREE

Day Nine:

Exotic Bet of the Day:

12-15 NEWCASTLE – DAGIAN@14/1

1-10 LEICESTER – WENCESLAUS@7/2

12-15 CATTERICK – SILKSTONE@13/2

1-35 CATTERICK – WITHAM@10/1

3 or 4 x 0.01pt WIN SINGLES plus a 0.01pt EACH WAY ACCUMULATOR.

(Total stake = 0.05pt or 0.06pts)

You can see how keen I am on this bet from the staking levels but we are supposed to be having some fun and playing with bookmaker’s money so I have made the effort and all have some sort of positive about them so that you never know. That sort of bet.

That sort of time of year! Race reading undoubtedly gets trickier in January for whatever reason.

Wenceslaus is our to follow horse and owes us nothing and I should perhaps be keener on him after the attitude he has shown last three runs for us. Improving each time and really fighting for it LTO. This is a tougher race though and penalty and heavy ground wouldn’t inspire. Each way only really but he’s in my singles too if it runs. Leicester has to survive a morning inspection.

Dagian lives next door to me and looked a promising sort on early runs for Jimmy but has put in a couple of stinkers so far this winter season. Did win a flat race for previous trainer on third run after break and Jimmy goes with blinkers here which can sometimes transform them. Watching the Moffatt yard, you learn to expect the win when least expected and on form I’d rule this out. Price will be good though and purely out of loyalty to yard, he’s in. Could come last. Could win. Same owner as Lady Bowes so that inspires me for whatever reason. There’s magic in that ownership somewhere.

Pam Sly is a trainer I like when her form in running figure is at 100% as it is now. Silkstone disappointed LTO on soft ground but it’s quick at Catterick and could be dry too in comparison to many so this may well be sound placing. Witham doesn’t have much to recommend but tries chasing for the first time and does look one to improve for that.

Don’t go putting the mortgage on. In fact don’t go putting the beer money on either!

As much a penny arcade bet as I’ve ever published on the BOZmail but then of course I am prone to Murphy’s Law so never you know.

Day Eight:

Shortlist Race of the day:

3-00 NEWCASTLE – VIA SERENDIPITY @ 6/4 – 0.1pt BACK -2nd

(P/L on the day: – 0.115points)

Market told us I may have undercooked one of the form traps and it was worth trading on Via Serendipity with the price drift but I retained a bit of hope in running and let it ride but having seen it, I cannot stress enough how very unkeen I am on the racing at this time of year. I’m usually over to women’s tennis by now and will be watching that soon but am also swerving tipping and betting the Australian Open this year ( and next) and another of the benefits of the annual sub approach is that January 2021 will be a month’s holiday for us all. Chance to get on the beach in the Bahamas with the serious stash we’ve won!

JANUARY JAMBOREE SCORE after DAY EIGHT: +0.1524 points
