Well the filter worked well on the shortlist system so I’ll be doing that again. Fairly new approach but I try same thing again tomorrow. The system itself had a typically mixed day at Lingfield as it often does (not an official system track but on the subs bench) with a couple of excellent longshot placers for you each way monkeys and three winners with a good one in the last that delivered a decent CSF as well. Placepot fell on two races and my each way Lucky 15 suffered from the short pricer failing (when will I learn to sidestep anything that is favourite and this one actually also failed my race read but passed through the filter. Lesson learned every day!).

The system nap also failed which may have been track related. Not entirely sure about that outcome. Shortlist naps don’t happen every day but they do have a decent strike rate at a lot of tracks including Lingfield. Obviously they don’t all win though and this was one of those. No real excuse or understanding on that one my end.

Very much a jamboree day and we push the profit score on a tad with my return on the Lucky 15 included in it. I suspect some of you will have beaten that return as I got only 16/1 on Rakematiz although I did place before the run on Brigham Young.

Daily P/L = +0.1374 points

Day Five:

To Follow Bet at Plumpton:

1-40 CAT TIGER@ 6/5 – 0.15pt WIN BACK

This one very much on that excellent formline from Exeter that Welsh Saint let down slightly but actually not much because that was a black type race and he was running on at the end. Some would say a form boost. Fairly keen and shan’t trade at the price.

Fixed odds bet only.

Shortlist Exotic bet of the Day:

2 x 0.01pt WIN SINGLES + 0.01pt WIN DOUBLE (Total Stake 0.03pts)

3-40 PLUMPTON – KING MURO @ 20/1

Same filter as Day 4 bet and I also like each way race read for King Muro who does have a record of running well after a break. Some of you will do these each way I know and you could argue for splitting to 0.005pt each way again but I’m against each way overall for various reasons – one of which we saw yesterday as you lose value hand over fist when an expected winner comes 3rd but doesn’t score the place because of number of runners in race. Murphys Law in my book and always happens to me on short pricers! Each way however is a bookmaker device to fleece and whilst it can work ok in multiples, I still believe in win only nine times out of ten. This is one of those nine times but I have also refrained from each way here because of overall bank management considerations which still rule even in a Penny arcade Jamboree!
