THE BOZmail – JANUARY JAMBOREE

JANUARY JAMBOREE SCORE after DAY SEVENTEEN: +0.4412 points

Day EIGHTEEN

Shortlist Exotic Bet of The Day:

PERMED TREBLE @ ASCOT:

1-50 Magic of Light – Papagana

2-25 Thomas Darby

3-35 Un De Sceaux

2 x 0.025pt WIN TREBLES (Total Spend = 0.05 points)

I publish the full Ascot Shortlist below for your information and do think it’s quite a good one with a stab at going through the card. Small permed Placepot not out of the question although I found the 1-15 & especially the 3-00 quite tough as race reads. Down to trusting the system in those and likewise the final two races which it calls confident and reasonably controversial single selection races. I agree on Un De Sceaux’s chance of reversing Sandown form with the run under his belt however and include that in my official play for the sheet. Nap there is Thomas Darby at a price as he reverts to hurdles after disappointing in a chase LTO although the second behind Maire Banrigh has not worked out badly! He gets back to his Supreme Novice form in this ground and he’s a great bet at the price.

To Follow horse Magic of Light is value to repeat the win in this last year as prep for the Grand National but I do also seriously like the chance of Papagana. Unable to split them, I have thus opted for the permed treble. You might also consider a Reversed forecast in that 1-50 and my other wacky bet was a CSF for fabulous value in the 3-00 including the Shortlist three – two of which are rank outsiders. The shortlist has form with this sort of thing and it’s probably tempting fate to miss it off my official picks. Might try it to mini stakes if the first two legs of the official bet are up giving a splendid hedge position on the Un De Sceaux race!

I am also missing To follow horse Nordano out of my official bet as the race read gives him a chance of second at best. Goshen looks very strong and there are two dark horses in the race too and Bryony defects for two rides for Nicholls at Taunton.

Of course should the champ conjure the magic – and it is featured on the shortlist which ought to act as a warning really – then that would be a fairly strong tip for Bryony’s two at Taunton.

January still! LIM doing ok but The Boz in general sees traps wherever he looks and strong instinct is to remain cautious and hang on to the profit we have!!
