Got my appetite for the horses back after a day at Southwell yesterday where I managed one winner from five but 3/3 with my lays proving my longstanding bias and encouraging me to get back to laying which has been a tad below par on the horses of late. Bredenbury looks very short however at Brighton and worth a go at as his only form so far was on totally different ground and at Yarmouth which is very different trackwise to Brighton and like Brighton is not a course noted for transferring its form well.So a bit to prove especially as 10/1 shot Al Verde has similar profile but better time than the fav on the equally different ground. Next in the betting Lady Quickstep and Faldetta both sure to be ok on the ground with Lady Quickstep the preferred of the two. Only caveat is that Lady Quickstep and Al Verde both hail from stables running below par. That apart, plenty to get Bredenbury beat with and thus very playable LIM at the price.

I’ll take this opportunity also to welcome several new triallists to The Bozmail and hope you enjoy the next couple of weeks which includes the epitome of the women’s UK tennis season starting this week with Eastbourne and then straight in to the Wimbledon Slam. After a cracking score at Edgbaston last week, I’m keen to keep in trim and have moved Tuesday’s tip to the starting of the next staggered acca after yesterday’s LIM play was voided courtesy of not completing first set. When I saw the result, I thought we’d lost then I saw the score and celebrated the non runner. Bit like being subject to the emotional rollercoaster of playing in a VAR football match. You’ve been awarded a penalty. Oh no, hang on, I’ll change my mind and not award one so you can stop that silly celebrating! Women’s world cup bet also coming for Thursday night I fancy as I get into flag waving mode with the staggered acca match starring on Eurosport on Tuesday and featuring our very own Johanna Konta.

So you come to trial at a good time. Let’s hope you inspire some good winners in me and feel free to ask any questions if there is owt you don’t understand. I am noted for my peculiar ways including the peculiarity of not posting losses! A peculiarity I’m proud of and working hard to uphold.

If you are new to the sheet – which has been going 12 years now – I draw your attention to the BOZrules and maxims below particularly number 4 which has some new content that came from this year’s activity regarding avoiding lays at Betfair SP.

Good Luck with your bets!

Staggered acca number 12: (LEG 1)

0.5pt BACK on Johanna Konta to beat Maria Sakkari at best priced 4/9

A good thing on the Brit’s current form and the Greek girl’s dislike for the grass. She took a set off world number one Osaka at Edgbaston but that flattered her as Naomi was seriously out of sorts and is very out of love with the game at the moment as she realises there is work to be done on technique for grass court play. Same for Sakkari who has been having a good clay season but that very much her surface. Konta can be unreliable at times and disappointed flag waving fans in the French Open semi getting tight in both sets v Vondrousova and was also outplayed by yoyo Ostapenko at Edgbaston but that was no disgrace as Jelena was on her potential world number one form that day and interestingly was again at Eastbourne on Monday following her histrionics at Edgbaston against Martic.

Konta has reasserted her grass pedigree with a good win over Yastremska first round here and has beaten Sakkari cleanly on grass in their back form. I expect her big hitting to be decisive here. Hope you get to watch and enjoy and more of the workings of the staggered acca, which will be a tennis one over the next fortnight, when we see the result.

Good Luck with your bets.

The BOZmail golden rules:

1/ Try to look where others do not.

2/ Make sure your selections are as good as you can get them(the boz’s job here)

3/ Get your staking right (up when confident – down when less so or when managing bank)

4/ Do all in your power to get best price available(whether that be using price comparison sites or using partial staking techniques on the exchanges when unsure which way a price might go. Be careful not to take exchange ‘silly prices’ if you are going in early on a lay price or if a specified low lay tissue price goes on a significant drift. Always check bookmaker tissue prices first to get a guide on what to expect from the market if it is not yet properly formed on the exchanges. As from March 2019 onwards, advised not to take BETFAIR SP prices on lays following some adverse returns therein over the January/February period. The recommendation is always to secure a price (if possible) within the published parameters when actually placing the lay bet. Your discretion based on personal form study also encouraged to ensure you maximise returns. The staking advices are a general rather than rigid dictate – mainly for the less experienced and those not able to spend time watching markets develop and practising the optimum betting time skill.

5/ Always keep in mind the long term ‘importance of  breaking even’ philosophy and practice. This is very much used by The Boz in his staking advices and is recommended in your betting practices – especially during the down spells – in order to maintain a healthy and consistent bank.

6/ Always remember the BOZ does traditionally suffer from Murphys Law. If he expresses his opinion but states that he won’t be betting on it himself and isn’t making it an official tip, remember that historically these can be his best advices! The 2019 Grand National opinion expressed paid a £2,260-93 tricast for a £60 (£1×60) permed stake (five selections).

7/ Never accept an overall loss. This has been the BOZ’s mantra for 22 years. The year the BOZmail posts an overall loss is the year he packs in.

“I play cautiously and strategically with bank management also always in mind. The staggered acca is the attempt to win large from small stake. The LIM is the cashbuilder to gradually accumulate profit over a 12 month period.”  Boz
